In 2025, we were proud to honor Team Gleason Board Member Thomas “Tommy” Capella as the inaugural recipient of the Team Gleason Enduring Impact Award. For more than 14 years, Tommy has been a devoted board member, loyal friend, and tireless advocate for the ALS community. His leadership, generosity, and unwavering commitment have not only shaped but also sustained our mission.
What is Gleason Gras Supporting?
WHAT IS GLEASON GRAS SUPPORTING?
Gleason Gras supports the mission of Team Gleason, a national nonprofit founded by former New Orleans Saints safety Steve Gleason and his wife, Michel, after his ALS diagnosis. Inspired by Steve’s belief that life with ALS can still be filled with purpose, connection, and possibility, Team Gleason works to ensure that no one faces this disease alone.
ALS remains a devastating and incurable disease. Every 90 seconds, someone in the United States is diagnosed with ALS, and families are immediately faced with life-altering challenges. Team Gleason meets those challenges head-on by expanding access to technology, equipment, care services, and advocacy that empower people living with ALS to maintain independence and continue living fully.
Since 2011, Team Gleason has provided more than $65 million in technology, equipment, adventures, and direct support to individuals and families navigating ALS.
Today, Team Gleason is a nationally recognized leader advancing independence, accessibility, and innovation for people living with ALS and their families. Guided by lived experience of the ALS Community and strengthened through partnerships with leading technology companies, assistive equipment providers, and healthcare innovators, the organization works every day to ensure families facing ALS have the tools and support they need to continue living fully.
